50÷60 Hz CURRENT TRANSFORMERS FOR MEASUREMENT APPLICATIONS

These current transformers for measurements applications are designed to answer the needs to measure the currents with accuracy and to have small dimensions either in civil or industrial applications. Their most important application is Energy Meters.

The cable with current to be measured will constitute the primary circuit while the secondary will be connected on the printed circuit to be detected and measured. The small dimensions of the transformer offer to the design engineers versatility and new possibilities to reduce the overall size of the measurements instruments. The primary need is to carry out a measure that should be RMS value, peak value or wave shape in the case of harmonic analysis.

The great benefit using these transformers by comparison with other systems is the possibility to handle the signal with a circuit galvanically insulated from the a.c. network and then, especially for applications with dangerous voltages, in compliance with the security standards. The secondary applied circuit is typically a resistor and the transfered signal, with minimum phase-shifts, offers accuracy and linearity with different values of current.
